Health Savings Accounts
A Health Savings Account (HSA), is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to individuals who are enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Unlike a Flexible Spending Account, HSA funds roll over and accumulate year after year if it is not spent. Just like FSAs, HSAs can be used in conjunction with any vision insurance plan to offset any out-of-pocket costs on your behalf. Funds may be used to pay for qualified medical expenses like eye exams, prescription glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Many employers are offering Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) options to employees. These are elective, supplemental insurance savings plans. Flexible Spending Accounts are designed to let you save money in an account, pre-tax, to pay for additional medical expenses such as eye exams, glasses, and contacts. FSAs can typically be used in conjunction with any vision plan to offset any out-of-pocket costs on your behalf.
